Colchester Zoo celebrates National Science and Engineering Week
Award winning Colchester Zoo will once again be hosting a range of activities for school and education groups for National Science and Engineering Week in March. Specially devised activities will be on offer, free of charge, for primary and secondary school groups looking at a variety of topics across all key stages and abilities.
Primary schools will be able to pre-book activities at Colchester Zoo from 9th March until 16th March. Activities this year will include a fun and interactive talk on the animals of Madagascar, a talk looking at sea animals, a classification workshop on insects and a craft activity session to make animals that fly.
Activities for Secondary schools that can be pre-booked will be available from 17th March until 23rd March. This year’s activities will include an interactive session on nocturnal hunters, a talk about human impacts on the environment, a talk about the scientific advances used for conservation and a quiz trail that will cover subjects including maths and science.
All of the activities for Science and Engineering Week at Colchester Zoo have been especially devised, and will be run by Colchester Zoo’s education team. The activities will help improve a range of skills including basic maths, science, art, data analysis and classification.
